After Effects Tutorial – Quick carbon fibre texture

Here’s how you can create a realistic carbon fibre texture in After Effects using Ramp and CC RepeTile. It takes a few seconds to create, and works really well in high-tech or motoring videos.

You can also download the project file I used in the tutorial from here.

Do you know why when I add a light my carbon fiber layer disappears? I am using CS3. Glad I stumbled across your website. Found it through a video on youtube.

Hi Tim – I don’t think your layer is disappearing, my guess would be is that your light is either too dark, facing in the wrong direction, or too far away. Try adjusting the brightness or position values to see if that sheds a little light on things ;)

Hello.. How to find ‘CC Repetile’ in CS5 ?

Type ‘repetile’ into the search field at the top of your effects panel. If it’s not there, then you don’t have a full installation of After Effects and may need to install it again. (It’s part of the standard installation.)
